Born and raised in Poughkeepsie, NY. Started piano at the age of two. Attended Wesleyan University, in Middletown, CT, where he studied composition with the late saxman, Bill Barron, and started studying jazz vibraphone under the tutelage of Muse recording artist Jay Hoggard. Double majored in music and mathematics. Quit his day job in 1994 in order to pursue music full-time. Moved to the Bay Area in 1996 in order to pursue music full-time where it doesn't snow. Has performed with such jazz luminaries as Ed Blackwell, John Stubblefield, Cecil Bridgewater, Ray Drummond, Keter Betts, and Ali Ryerson, as well as Tibetan pop star, Dadon.

Has released two jazz cd's as a leader: 1998's
Onramp, with his group, the Gerry Grosz Jazz Kitchen,
and 2001's The Cosmic Buzz,
which he co-produced with drummer and friend Phil Hawkins. Both albums can
be found on Grosz's record label,
UpLate.Org Records. Leads one of the longest standing weekly jam sessions in San Francisco, and has become one of the Bay Area's most in-demand mallet players. His discography as a sideman is growing steadily, and he has recorded and played with some of the top artists and groups in Northern California. Grosz is quickly gaining recognition as a witty and melodic songwriter. He is currently hard at work finishing up an album of of solo piano arrangements of hymns and spirituals, due mid-2006. Following that, he hopes to release his first cd of lyric songs before the end of the same year. Grosz is also heavily sought after as a composer for modern dance works, children's theater, and independent films and video. Finally, he is the creator of TheVibe.Net, the world's premiere website for the vibraphone community.
